Congratulations to April’s Vermont eBird Images of the Month winners! In the first photo taken by Thomas Berriman, a Spruce Grouse pauses on moss-covered ground in Wenlock Wildlife Management Area. The second photo shows a Barred Owl taken by Kyle Tansley in Arms Forest. The third photo shows a Song Sparrow taken by Coleen Lawlor in Windham. And last but not least, our fourth winner is a photo of a Virginia Rail taken by Henry Trombley in Bond Island Natural Area. You can learn more about Spruce Grouse, Barred Owls, Song Sparrows, and Virginia Rails by exploring their species profiles on Vermont eBird, a project of the Vermont Atlas of Life.
Please help us choose next month’s winners! At the end of each month we will select four images from Vermont eBird checklists. You can help us decide which ones to pick by rating the images other users post. To rate images, first click on the “Explore” tab to the right of the Vermont eBird logo. On the “Explore” page, click on “Search Photos and Sounds” under “More Ways to Explore”. In order to see this month’s photos, adjust your filter settings to Vermont as your location and May 2020 as your date. From there, look through the images until you find one you like. When you click on it, you can add your rating (1 to 5 stars) in the bottom right-hand corner below the image. If you’re wondering how photo rating works, check out eBird’s photo rating guidelines. We will pick the winners based on eBird’s existing image ranking system. You can vote for as many as you want!
Congratulations again to our winners and don’t forget to cast your votes for May!
