Comments:
Arrived 12:22, exited 1:46pm. I birded alone for most of the time. (I spent some of this time inside the gift shop, maybe 20 min.? and I spent another 15 min. or so sitting tight in my car and trying to dry out.) Birded from observation platform for a while. Could not hear or see much of anything on the way to and from the platform. Similarly, very few birds seen/heard along the entrance road when we rolled down the windows to listen.

I was already pretty wet after Oregon Inlet and this made it worse. The top of the platform was exposed to the wind and rain and the platform was shaking from the wind so using a scope was difficult. I went down one flight of stairs and used the top part of the platform as a shield because I was on the leaward side of the wind. This way I was able to see much of the pond and without as much discomfort.

Not many birds in the pond. No shorebirds or wading birds seen.

Weather - Conditions very poor. Visability rather poor, wind driven rain and no real shelter to speak of. Light rain, very windy (30+, ENE). 48 to 49F.
