King/Clapper Rail

Heard calling from tall grass between the bridge and V-rail area. The call was spot on for a Clapper however given the significance of this record (personal first) my comfort level in counting the bird was low. The call had a cleaner, less throaty and raspy quality to it than that of the Kings I have heard. The "pump" portion of the call had a near rise and fall to it. Attempts to see this bird were futile given a lack of light. DH joined later in an attempt to relocate the bird without success.
