Clear skies early, becoming partly cloudy later. Light-moderage N wind early, becoming calm later. ~40F to start, and ~55F when leaving. Birding Airport marsh, West End, Shell Mounds Park, Pelican Point, Audubon Sanctuary, Goat Trees Preserve. Counted all birds encountered between birding stops. Passerine birding best at Shell Mounds Park, and quite dead at Audubon Sanctuary. Good portion of Audubon Sanctuary has been burnt.

Similar to Mottled Duck with dark body contrasting buffy head, but bill had stronger orange color with dark dusky mark towards center reminiscent of female Mallard.
