Party Size:

Duration:
3 hour(s), 45 minute(s)
Distance:
6.0 mile(s)
Observers:

Comments:
The trip was a birding outing on the McCoy's tour boat led by Mark Woodrey (Grand Bay NERR). The water was quite low so could only access Bayou Heron, Middle Bay, and Mississippi Sound waters around the Grand Battures. Because of the low water levels, we were not able to access by foot the extensive sand/mud flats exposed aroud the Grand Battures and consequently could not clearly identify nor reasonably count the shorebirds, terns, and gulls using these areas. Most of the landbird observations were made while walking through the savanna areas immediately north of the Grand Bay NERR/NWR offices on Bayou Heron Road.
