Blackburnian Warbler

Received a call from Dave Goodward that Dane Fagundes had found a Blackburnian warbler in Cal City. I raced out there and got to see the bird for about 10 minutes before sunset. It was a very drab first year female. One of the first views I had was of its back and I got to see the pale braces. Very cool. Then as it foraged I picked out the yellow supercilium in a gray face. The gray in the face reached back to connect with the nape. The throat and upper breast were pale yellow. The wings were gray with 2 white wing bars. The bill looked like it might be somewhat pale and rather thick for a warbler.
