Believe this is a very conservative number. They were streaming the jetty constantly for the whole hour I was there. There was also large rafts on the water both on the north side of the jetty and out in the channel.

I positioned my scope to the north side of the jetty to a spot where the wind was causing the shearwaters to bank and show their underside. After over a half hour, I finally got the flash of white I was looking for. White body and white under wings. When it banked it showed a back that was black, darker than the Sooties. It was also obviously smaller than the other shearwaters. I followed it from the north until my view was blocked by the spray at the end of the jetty. My eyes seriously hurt for hours after staring through the telescope lens.

Are you submitting a complete checklist of the birds you were able to identify?
