I was very surprised to see a White-crowned Sparrow. Bright black-and-white crown. Photographed. I looked long enough to even note that it remarkably had pale lores (which is I believe a subspecies from the west).

I was surprised to see one so late. 100% confident of ID.

found skulking in the undergrowth ~1 ft off the ground; watched for about 4 minutes (but could not photograph it); gray head and throat, yellow belly and undertail coverts, green-yellow back and wings and uppertail coverts; diagnostic partial white eye-ring with one crescent above and below the eye, black around the loral region; long tail (for an Opornis warbler); I'm very familiar with this bird; this was not a Mourning Warbler, which has no white eye-ring and would also have black on the lower part of the gray hood, and shorter tail. I recognized this bird first from its gestalt (Macgillivray's have distinct gestalts). 100% confident of ID
