Heavy drizzle at start to overcast at end, NW winds 10-15mph getting stronger through the day, 40-50ºF. Crazy cool spot, even ignoring the great birding. Drove all night from Ithaca to reach Port Clyde by 7, stopping to pick up seed and hummer feeders on the way. Upon arrival on the island, there were a good number of birds in town. After checking in at the Shining Sails, I checked the areas around the hotel briefly and then headed towards town. I worked up past the brewery to the bridge and then down on the trail towards lobster cove. This was in the first hour and half of the visit and had the vast majority of the birds. I then went back towards town and up towards the shining sails and then repeated the loop as well as covering horns hill. At this point birds started seriously hunkering down, and by noon when I finished lunch it was hard to find much of anything so I took a nap which ended up lasting til noon
