Comments: *very high. Careful count that started as an attempt at an exact 1x1 count and then changed to an estimate by 5's when I saw a loose dog start heading over. Had pulled over when the birds started streaming over the car and flying behind the motel. Didn't recognize the species, but the stream went on for a while and I realized that there were over 100 individuals. Quickly pulled up to see the birds, and was shocked to find a carpet of BLRF in the dirt lot behind the motel. After taking a second to enjoy this life bird, I started counting to determine how many birds were actually present. I got up to 93 by exact count before estimating the rest by 5's while they were still feeding on the ground. Due to some movement within the flock, I got somewhere between 120 and 150, with the highest degree of confidence around 140. I decided to stick to the most conservative number given how unusual this is. Unfortunately, I only got one crap phone photo before they flushed. It shows most, but not all of the flock and depending on how many dark blobs you count is between 65 and 75 individuals.

Comments: Dark lores. Pretty sure this is the expected ssp? Z. l. gambelii doesn't breed this far south as I understand?
