I walked the route with Sandy Weatherall today. Miles was going to walk it with us but couldn't make it. This is our last walk for the Spring Migration Watch (I think!). Highlights were some cuckoos that were tough to ID by ear.

Observations

  1. Number observed: 2
  2. Yellow-billed/Black-billed Cuckoo

    Number observed: 2

Comments: 2 or 3 calling. All sounded alike, but the calls were rather intermediate between black- and yellow-billed cuckoos. They all started with the rolling notes common to both species, then finished with what sounded like the yellow-bill's "kowp" calls, but I wasn't sure of this. None ended with the black-bill's cu-cu or cu-cu-cu calls, but I didn't feel that I could eliminate black-bill.
