Birding in the jack pines was pretty quiet, despite it being a pleasant, warm and sunny evening. Had expected a bit more activity.

Comments: This male bounded across the track just 30m from where I parked up. Watched for five minutes as it fed in leaf litter close to side of track. It recrossed the track on the ground a couple of times when it spotted inverts in the sun. Crunching views down to 5 m. After this I pottered down the track for 1+ km but extremely quiet. I was thinking of staying overnight and trying for singing birds in the morning but the overall lack of anything avian put me off.
