Comments: This bird initially found on 12/14 by Joshua Stacy. At long distance view thought it was a candidate for Glaucous Gull. But with closer look could see the bill had more dark bleeding along the bill than the classic sharply demarcated pale based, black tipped bill expected for pure Glaucous. Thoughts on this gull ranged from Glaucous mixed with Herring genes to the possibility that there ARE Glaucous Gulls with these more heavily marked bills that occur here on the West Coast. However it is almost impossible to know. Glaucous-wingedxGlaucous was suggested, but 2 experts indicated they did not see GLWG genes in this bird. Leaving it as Larus sp.
