Comments: The bird was heard calling in the area of the new butterfly garden. It responded to imitations of its call and showed within 15 feet of both observers (Pablo Quintanilla and the reporter). It was observed for between 7 and 10 minutes and was heard calling from the forest frequently afterward. The bird was clearly a small Myiarchus type flycatcher with a very dark, puffy looking head, lighter colored throat and pale yellow undersides. There was noticeable rufous in the wings and tail feathers as seen in birds of northeastern Mexico. Both observers were familiar with the bird and its call from observations in NE Mexico and Cameron County, including previously well documented sightings at Sabal Palm. No sound or image recordings were made.
