55-60 deg F, extremely socked in with fog initially, clearing over the field throughout but with intermittent rain, no wind though. A mass grouping of gulls and geese on the fields probably seeking foraging refuge from the weather.

Observations

  1. Number observed: 33

Comments: Exact count; counted twice to be certain. Found among flock of 4500+ Canada Geese that had taken refuge from the rain/fog on these fields. First time I have seen Brant in an agricultural field in Virginia Beach, with all past sightings being either migrating birds along the coast, flocks in the Lynnhaven, or individuals around the CBBT. Pretty neat, though surprising that this was the only goose species mixed in the mass of Canadas; no Snows, Ross's, Greater White-fronted present and no Cackling that I could pick out either.
