First group at the Fred Meyer gas station was about 1700-1800 strong. This is a conservative estimate from photos of two tree loads, one house top full and a mob amassing on the street itself. Those photo totals were 520+957+233+194. That comes to 1904, but I knocked that total down quite a bit to allow for traveling individuals captured more than once. I left that first group to follow a second group that flew overhead toward the Palmer Depot. That second group was at least as large as the first. My impression, once they had perched, was that it was larger than the first group, but I did not photograph or attempt to count them. It’s likely there were close to 4,000 individuals I encountered today, but I’m sticking with a conservative 3,000.
