Mallard x American Black Duck (hybrid)

A couple of males on the beach seem to have some Black Duck genes due to dark brown streaked flanks and belly.

Includes one adult bird I’ve seen a couple of times before with dark eyes so Thayer’s-like, but other characters seem more HEGU-like, the underwing is dark, legs are pale pink and head shape is angular. Bill is paler lemon yellow also. Is this the bird being recorded as an Iceland (Thayer’s) in other lists? Update: TI’s photo identified today’s dark-eyed bird as a Thayeri and different from the bird I saw in November based on bill pattern.
