dabbling duck sp.

Estimate. Ducks coming in to roost. Reminded me of bats flying into a cave as they swirled around the flooded areas. Most likely Mallard and Gadwall as they seemed quite large.

Spotted at 5:38 PM in flooded meadow on 116th Ave, east of 62nd Ave. Almost directly in line with the Farm Unit barn on 118th Ave that could be seen in the distance. Hunting low over field about 300 feet from where I stood at the edge of the road. It made 3 passes, all in the same line, before I lost view of it in the darkness. Very pale underneath with dark commas showing on underwing, making this owl a Male. Broad, rounded wings and short tail, eliminated Northern Harrier. Buffy areas on upper wing detectable with my bins. Too dark for me to obtain a photo of any value. A big thanks to Tim Cornish for the info on where I might find the SEOW.
