On McDonald DikevRd. Found earlier this morning by David. Re-found by hearing it singing it’s distinctive song while perched in the hedge row briefly. Small sparrow with yellowish buffy-colored face and plain unmarked breast.

Forgot to add this yesterday. Noted by David Mandell first. When we were on McKimmen's Rd. looking for the Tropical Kingbird (zilch), we were parked on the dike road and watching a Red-Shouldered Hawk. A Swamp Sparrow chipped loudly just outside my door in the wet ditch so I looked down and saw him briefly before he dove for cover again. Know this sparrow well since I'd seen it daily in certain seasons in Chicago. Small dark rufous-winged sparrow with a rufous cap and gray face. Bright chip note is distinctive. These sparrows show up every winter in the county. Don't know why it should be rare.
