Pam O photoed this along with the 2 Dunlin and 3 MA Godwits . I had just joined along with Colby & Sarah & Max’s OBA field trip, (thank you so much for inviting me!), so we looked at it through scopes : distant bird but Colby saw black armpits, and earlier this morning I had thought I heard one pretty sure of

2

distant, smaller than plover, difficult for me to make out : Colby guessed Dunlin, and then I questioned Aren’t they small? so we began thinking towards Western? but Sarah pointed out the long bill and they moved out into deeper water up to their bellies in water feeding, probing, but also just standing in water , which she said wasn’t likely to be Western, “and they’re chunky” : on more viewing, yes I agree bills too long for Western, so we come to all agree on Dunlin after all , after my Testing of ID ... This and the Merlin I would have missed out on had I continued birding alone.

ho PaWR or MAWR : I was coming out from beachside when encountered Colby’s group, so (happily!) lost focus of a number of passerines just now vocalizing along dyke road/parking lot here
