Huge swarms feeding in the bay between Cape Meares and the islands with the arches to the south...additional flocks beyond that and there was a steady stream moving southbound a mile or two offshore

1
booby sp.

In the bay south of Cape Meares...originally thought it was a BFBO after initial distance views, but after a couple views of it in the middle of the bay and after consulting field guides and photos online (plus statistically), it seems more likely it was a Brown Booby. The bird was occasionally join the shearwater, cormorant, pelican and gull feeding frenzies occurring in the bay. It was seen flying beyond the islands with arches to the south to about half way between those islands and Cape Meares. It was unfortunately harder to follow that one might guess when it would join the feeding frenzies due to the thousands of birds diving and swirling.
