Amazing day at the hawkwatch. Biggest showing of vultures I have ever witnessed there. Nice to have 3 broadwings around a lot for nice views.

Comments: Huge showing of vultures today. Spectacular! Numbers counted as they broke from kettles and began streaming east I counted in batches of twenty. There were a number of RTHA mixed in. This huge flock was close to 100 percent vultures very easy to distinguish with dark bodies and two toned wings. The large number showed up from the east at around 11am. An overwhelming number kettled up over the ridge and then broke out heading east southeast. They travelled a while and circled back over and over again. I only made the large count once as they initially broke from kettles the first time. Count is conservative. Three BTHA were in the mix later and they appeared to circle back with the vultures and RTHA. It was a spectacular show. Things dropped off as of 1:15 pm.
