Seven in water south of rocks, one had come up onto shore on north side of rocks and hobbled approx 50 yards to the east, where I found it by following its prints and observing that it was unable to take flight or even hobble more than a few inches from where it was resting. Local wildlife rescue contacted, appeared to be a juvenile.

Tentative id only - there was a sudden frenzy at the mouth of the harbor, closer to the outside buoys, begun at the appearance of what seemed to be a small pod of harbor porpoises and a whale. Area quickly became populated with Common Murres, various gulls, cormorants, pelicans. Sighting was fleeting but small yellow bill very distinct, as was black tip on wings.

6

Initially spotted in harbor, about 50 yards to the south of most western end of jetty, sitting on water with Murres. Later alighted to north side of rocks, on shore.

shearwater sp.

I cannot confirm this with a photograph but in the midst of the Sooty Shearwaters there seemed to be a thicker-winged Shearwater which appeared to be much darker, with a broader tail and a lighter bill. Unfortunately, the sky had become overcast so I can't say for sure if the bill was pinkish but this Shearwater did seem to have a different wing-beat than the others. I can only guesstimate that it may have been a Flesh-footed Shearwater.
