Rare vagrant; seen earlier in the day by Eva Matthews and Scott Weidensaul, et al., and photographed at that time. Seen this time in flight, heading N to S , as it flew over our heads heading away. Appeared to have landed far off from us, but distance and obstruction from buildings prevented us from relocating the bird possibly perched, and we were pressed on time to catch our boat. Identified by the kingbird-sleek body with tail that appeared dark with white outer tail feathers, which eliminates other yellow-bellied kingbirds. Pale belly with creamy yellow noticed, but hard to see in the backlighting. Watched with scope and could see the soft gray upper side as the bird appeared to descend.
