Far side of delta flying north. Distinctive two-tone bill and tail pattern seen well.

18 adults and 6 immature seen at close range 1/2 mile from beginning of boardwalk. Counted twice by myself and fellow birder who is a shorebird expert.

Smacking call drew our attention. Spotted in dense brush along riparian vegetation between visitor center and river overlook. Yellow lower mandible and darker mantle seen well.
