Up-close, clean visual and voice ID: almost entirely smooth gray with a black cap and eye, visible rufous under tail when it flushed and perched. It flushed when we approached after it had been singing both its jumbled mimid song and distinct cat call from a dense thicket about 1/4 mile down the trail east-southeast of the Visitors Center.
