Very ratty looking bird. Smaller than normal white patch on crest. Merganser bill. Harry Legrand described a similar, probably the same, bird a week ago.

Near boardwalk, just past the zigzags at the beginning. Photos in dim light.

Pink birds with spatulate bills. Flew in at 19:25; literally the first birds I saw here. Looked like they came from the south. Circled a few times before dropping down out of sight. Later relocated in a dead tree visible from Raleigh Blvd as others have noted. Extremely distant photos in waning light.
