Part 3. Started up new hope creek, paddled upstream past two or three beaver dams into marshland, then waded through a swamp to pop out at the N side of the lake cove. Then hiked through the woods to the pond/marsh just north of the lake. Lake at 215.4. The Durham side was consistently 3” deep.

Unmistakeable pink birds. Originally flushed about a half mile south, in Chatham county (separate checklist). Ended up with great egrets at the far north edge of the lake.
