Comments:
Osa Conservation Big Day 2018. Day started with owling at the Piro research station, then walking to Finca Osa Verde to begin birding at dawn. Birding at Finca Osa Verde in the early morning and then walked west to the airstrip, down airstrip to the beach and east along the beach to the rocks and lagoon, from which we took the road back up to the farm. From there, we took the Discovery trail to Río Piro, which we walked up to just past the first river fork and then back to the Discovery trail. From there, we took Discovery to Ajo to the Piro Research Station. After spending an hour at the station, we walked up the Tangara trail to the Ocelote trail and partway up the trail to Cerro Osa, then back to Piro on the Ocelote trail. From there, we hiked downstream through the Rio Piro from its intersection on the Tortugas trail to the small lagoon just before the beach. Then we walked back upriver to end our day at Piro at 6 pm. Big Day participants: Zac, Patrick, Nito, Henry, and Thomas.
