Comments:
The ponds were all full of water, no deer flies [really!], no mosquitoes, the frogs were taking flying leaps into the water and a nice breeze made it a nice day.

The bird was dead on the side of the road just west of the woods about the same place where a Short-eared Owl was killed by car last year. Probably a Great-horned. There is no doubt this is an owl. It had feathered legs down to the talons.
