Flew up from NW with 3 TVs. Smaller bird at top of group with periodic accipiter-like flapping. Broad wings and short rounded tail. Finally moved close enough to see white at base of primaries. It disappeared to the nw. Only 2 TVs passed so it may still be on the lake plain.”

First bird was an immature dark morph. Long winged buteo soaring with a strong dihedral. Glided with a kink that narrowed it down to Rough-leg or Swainson’s. Soared again over the bay showing light forehead, light flight feathers, and light under tail contrasting dark underwings and body although heavily molted. Second bird was an immature light morph following the same flight path but joined up with Red-tail and Broad-wing for size and shape comparison. Dark carpal patch and belly band were easily visible but faded from mount. June Rough-legs have been seen but this is really late.@
