Diving ducks. Males with red heads and blue bills. Observed on five of the nine ponds surveyed. Counts were 2, 1, 10, 5, 15. In addition, one female with a young brood was seen (young not counted)

Small female merganser. Somewhat stubby bill. Dark brown with rusty crest. Seen in canal where a female was seen with her brood last week. No young seen this week.

Identified by call in the area of Backwards Pond. A low, booming call. One note followed by two, the second lower than the first... repeated several times.

Yellowthroats were heard singing in nearly every cattail bed I encountered. Several birds were also observed. Males are yellow and brown warblers without wingbars and with a black mask.
