Rare filter? Not seen but heard distinctly at long boardwalk, south loop. Didn't realize this was rare for the locality or season or I would have recorded the song. This is an abundant bird in my home state that I am very familiar with and observe by call/song on 3 of my Breeding Bird Surveys.

Male bird. Distinguished from the abundant Bullock's Oriole by the all black tail visible in flight (compared to the "t-shaped black on tail of Bullock's), the reduced white wing bar (compared to wide white wing patch of Bullock's) and the yellow crown on Hooded versus black cap on Bullock's.
