The male Rose-throated Becard was seen coming to the nest north of the bridge, and perched a number of times on cottonwood tree branches in the vicinity of the nest. It was vocalizing.

When we got back to our car by the bridge at Bridge Road, a Purple Martin flew over the nearby ranches along with a number of other swallows. It was significantly larger than the other swallows, appeared very dark overall, and had a shallow forked tail. It was gone before I could get my camera on it. Other birders have recently reported seeing Purple Martins on the way to Madera Canyon, so the one I saw may be part of a group migrating through.
