Observed Ammodramus-type sparrow skulking in grasses in southern grassland habitat. Dark streaking on back with orange-russet facial coloration. Flat head and largish beak, as well as overall coloration, led to ID as Grasshopper Sparrow (not yellow enough for LeConte's Sparrow, too uniform in coloration for Henslow's Sparrow, not enough streaking on breast and wrong head color for Nelson's Sparrow, wrong head and breast color for Saltmarsh Sparrow).

Originally presumed A. s. floridanus, but probably more likely migrant A. s. pratensis.
