Bachman's Sparrow

No photo available. My companions with cameras were behind me on the trail. I compared this bird to all sparrows that occur in Florida using Sibley's guide. The bird was dark streaked on the back, light and plain on the front/breast. It did not have the red crown of a Chipping Sparrow. It was working in weeds and tall grasses about 50 yards from the water. It was within 30 feet of the trail. There was only one sparrow. I tried to put others on the bird, but it had moved off. I tried again later (when we finished our loop several hours later) to find the bird without success.
