At first I thought this was a Harlan's, but tail banding does not look right for that subspecies. Thinking now that it is a Western dark morph. NOTE: after getting additional pics of this bird and posting in HawkID, it is more likely to be a Harlan's; will post description later.

proportionally longer-billed than Loggerhead Shrike and lower mandible with a rather extensive pale base (LOSH black or if pale, then restricted); gray barring below (visible with binocs, but looks rather diffuse in photograph), feathers on top/at the base of the upper mandible white and contrasting with the gray forehead and gray crown (in LOSH, these feathers are typically black, but if grayish, then lacking contrast with the gray forehead/crown); overall color was silvery-pearly gray and much paler than typical mid-winter Loggerhead Shrike
