Black Scoter

Off north beach. Seen in flight with good views then at far distance on the surface. All black duck. Very chunky build. Rapid wingbeats. No white on wings. Very stereotypical duck-like head shape with high rounded crown. All black face lacked the sloping forehead from Surf Scoter's big bill.
