--FOY; unmistakable: bright red forehead patch, black chin & around bill, streaked breast; "jih-jih-jih" calls; in thicket directly across the road from the Wildlife Maintenance Shop; maybe more than one (wouldn't one guess?), but I grabbed my camera, only to discover that ALL THREE of my batteries were dead; and to think: I was _that_ close to not getting all those good Snowy Owl shots in SoDak three days ago!
