Blue-winged Teal

Pale blue coverts in flight

The field marks that we are sure about:
1. The dark eye line
2. The white “spot” on the face at the base of the bill was more distinct
3. The bill size was smaller - not “shoveler” size or shape
4. The bill was darker
5. The eye was dark
Comparing the species side by side, they were definitely Blue-winged Teal.
