very large bird, but smaller than American White Pelican (direct comparison); in flight, long legs extended beyond body; long neck extended and not tucked or coiled like a heron; heard the distinctive loud rattle call minutes before locating the bird; high towering flight with two AWPE; the birds were pretty high and almost impossible to see without bins
