84 to 75 degrees F, mostly sunny, calm. Met MC (who had been there for a while already) at the base of the Bay Trail. Walked the vegetated loop behind the visitor contact station a couple of times and the Bay Trail out and back. Flurries of activity but difficult evening birding like usual. PHVI was reported by Jason & Tommy while we were at the opposite end of the Bay Trail unfortunately. It would probably be a good idea to be out birding in the morning tomorrow if at all possible.

Comments: First-of-season bird, observed as it walked from north to south across the Bay Trail just west of the Bayside Trail junction (though MC & I were standing 50 yards or more to the west). It walked back out one more time before disappearing to the south. Initially thought I might have a VIRA until the yellow bill stood out like a sore thumb in binoculars; neat bird.

Comments: Female. Teed up in a tree behind visitor contact station before quickly fleeing north and landing in a tree across the entrance road where this heavily cropped photograph shows it. Black wings, all yellow bird with yellowish bill. Personal FOY for VB.
