Bird flying west along shore with very small size, considerably smaller than Sanderlings, short wings, erratic flight, thin white secondary stripe, dark back/wings and long black bill and line behind eye. I saw it land in the surf about 3/4 of the way to the breakwall, where it disappeared. Later, a flock of Shorebirds flushed by walkers 2/3 of the way to the breakwall from the beach back towards Lake St. Two smaller, darker backed birds separated from the group a couple hundred yards away and flew high, departing southward west of lake St. I could see the black back, dark compact wings and above features before they went high.
