1100

Counted carefully, steady stream all day. Exact count from Ken Brock for the day was 1164. I missed the first hundred birds but had a two extra flocks at the end, so 1100 is my personal estimated number.

frigatebird sp.

First found by John Kendall. ID confirmed by John Cassady and Ken Brock. Clearly a frigatebird when seen in profile, a little less than a mile out. I probably only saw it for 2 out of the 10ish minutes it was in view, due to difficulty finding it in the scope after losing it, so the only details I could pick up on were the profile (long tail, fork seen briefly, long pointed wings held bowed, head tucked into body), White around the chest area, and a brief look at the lighter carpal bar on the upper wing, which other viewers also confirmed. John Cassady and John Kendall got better details on the bird confirming it as a Magnificent. Appeared around 12:50pm and drifted NW toward Chicago.

EDIT: After further discussion amongst the observers, it was decided that the field marks observed were not enough to conclusively rule out Great and Lesser Frigatebird, so I am changing the ID to frigatebird sp.
