Quicksand Pond at Goosewing Beach Preserve is an indeal environment for shore birds. There were wide mudflats for them to graze on June 10.

The Least Terns have not yet been nesting. As soon as they do, the staff at Goosewing Beach fears that their eggs and the Least Terns may suffer the same fate as the Piping Plovers--being attacked at night by foxes and coyotes. This is very unusual at Goosewing. They can't protect the birds and eggs at night, at least they haven't found a solution as of June 10. We saw only 3 Piping Plovers, as so many had been killed by predators.
