Update:

The Cliff Swallows are nesting under the bridge by the restrooms. I forgot to count the nesting pairs, but 14 would be a close estimate. Almost all of the pairs are 75% or more done with their nests.

There were all six species of swallows at the beginning of May, but now they have dwindled down to four, with a pair of Tree Swallows coming around only occasionally and Violet-green even rarer. Tom McCabe reported a possible nesting pair near Veterans, but there is no way to confirm it as the greenbelt is closed there right now.

If that were indeed true, then it could be that the Tree Swallows have concentrated their movements to that area.

Today has been mostly rainy, but it cleared up some in the afternoon. As soon as I went out, it started to get cloudy again, with the weather getting "fouler by the minute." Hence not many species of songbirds were seen.
