  1. Barn x Cliff Swallow (hybrid)

    Number observed: 1

Comments: *CRAZY* ! - took a while to understand what I was looking at... Appeared to be 3-4 Barn Swallows flying up and down the road (along day use area / lakeshore laneway, near the SW corner of the park). One had a glowing orange rump (perhaps a brighter peach than a CLSW) and just as large, if not larger (seemed to wrap around to the underside)... I wasn't sure what to make of it until I finally had a better look, and noticed the forked tail was very short (perhaps only half an inch) and it overall looked funny for BARS... Once it clicked that CLSWxBARS was possible, I was able to tell that it had a slightly paler collar around the back of the head... .Overall GISS was BARS with a pale rump, and the extra details were only obvious once I looked closer. Very exciting.
