With A. O'Loghlen. This checklist covers the walk up and the 1hr, 45 min stand at the tip of the bluff immediately east of El Capitan Creek in the State Park. Little wind, sunny, low to mid 60sF. Used scope and binocs to reach as far as possible inland and seawards. We looked for the Red-necked Grebe seen earlier this winter but the lousy light angle in that easterly direction did not assist us.
Migration was evident in groups of birds moving westwards: Surf Scoters, Red-throated Loons, Whimbrels, Caspian Tern, and Tree Swallows. N. Rough-winged Swallows were inland and seemed to be moving eastwards.
