At 3:05pm an Adult golden eagle was sighted soaring in a thermal (~ 200-250 ft. a.g.). Its location was about 1/3 mile east of the Beaver Creek Visitor Center. Description of bird: eagle size raptor, dark brown in color, golden feathers on its head and nape were evident, tawny highlights on the upper (dorsal) wings were also seen on the bird as it banked in the thermal, and no white on underside of wing indicated it was an adult golden eagle. The eagle was viewed by two observers, both using 10 x 42 binos at about an 1/8 mile distance and watched the bird for several minutes. Weather conditions were clear, sunny and 50-55 degrees with a wind speed of about 5mph.
