Black-headed x Ring-billed Gull (hybrid)

A big thanks to the two birders from Maine who alerted me to the fact that this bird was in with the RBGU flock in the east lot. I had parked in the "20 minute" lot and may not have checked those birds otherwise. Obvious white "wedge" on upperwing a la BHGU. Wingtip pattern similar to other examples of this combo. Some cloudy gray in the appropriate spots on the underwing. Some sternine influence evident in structure. Thin, short bill.

2
Herring x Lesser Black-backed Gull (hybrid)

#1. Adult I hadn't seen before. Pallid yellowish legs, reduced black and gray on underwing. #2 Adult studied at length as it rested with head tucked on the shelf. Leg color an ugly, muddy yellow-pink blend. Irides pale yellow. Mantle color slightly darker than #1.
